The front block of the museum building dates back to 1887. It features an elegant neo-Palladian design, a European style of architecture characterised by a highly symmetrical façade and the use of pediments above windows.
The museum greatly relies on the support from our dedicated donors and generous friends like you to present fresh and thought-provoking perspectives of Singapore’s history and continue to keep our stories and traditions alive. Your support makes a difference every day.
Corporate donations provide vital source of funding for exhibitions and educational programmes, acquisitions of art, scholarly research, and refurbishments of the museum. Whether start-ups or large international corporations, you have a range of options to support the National Museum of Singapore, inspire lifelong learning and reach out to the community.
The National Museum of Singapore is deeply thankful for the valuable support of our donors through cash, artefacts, and in-kind donations.
Our docents and volunteers are the soul of our museum they help bring the stories behind our artefacts to life. Over the years, NMS’s family of museum volunteers and docents has grown from strength to strength, counting amongst them private organisations such as Friends of the Museums (FOM), Museums Volunteers (MV) and Mandarin Docents (MD), with individuals who are simply passionate about sharing their love for Singapore’s history and heritage.
