The Furniture Design Showcase, organised by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) and held in collaboration with the National Museum of Singapore, takes you on a journey of creativity and innovation with winning pieces from emerging design talents of the Furniture Design Award (FDA) and Furniture·Lifestyle·Innovations·Perspectives (FL!P) Challenge.
Currently in its 14th year, the annual FDA is a high profile avenue for designers to express their creativity with an edge and creates the accessibility for them to gain significant recognition in the industry. Based on the theme GREEN, this year's participants from the Students & Young Designers Categories are encouraged to think green not just as a colour, but to achieve furniture design breakthroughs that are both exceptional and unique. Open Category entries are not confined to the theme, allowing greater diversity to the showcase.
In this public showcase, selected pieces from the 3rd FL!P Challenge add to the innovative edge of this presentation, where budding design talents from the local arts and design institutions were tasked to think "out-of-box" and create functional furniture by using just six pieces of American Red Oak .
