Alexander von Vegesack set up the Thonet Museum in Boppard am Rhein, Germany and advised international museums in shaping and adding to their design collections. From 1987 on he worked with Rolf Fehlbaum, owner of the furniture producer Vitra, to establish the Vitra Design Museum, which he has headed as the founding since 1989.
